• Weld deposit is dense, heat treatable and has extremely high tensile and yield strengths
• Preheating and interpass temperature of 400– 600F will prevent the spread of cracks; postweld heat treatment (PWHT) by reheating, then oil-quenching at 1600F followed by tempering at 950F will give the highest tensile and yield strengths
